Guelph aims to mitigate climate change by reducing its carbon footprint. NewCold Guelph will be introducing energy-efficient and sustainable approaches in their systems.
- Energy efficiency is a key focus of NewCold's current administration, with the goal to become completely energy independent globally as a company by 2030
- NewCold’s storage facilities use solely LED lighting for exceptional maintenance purposes to optimize power consumption.
- The systems to move the pallets only run when necessary to ensure minimal door openings for pallets entering and leaving the cold storage. The highbay area will implement a “lights-out” system when unoccupied.
- The most fuel-efficient trucks in the transportation network will be used, with advanced logistics strategies designed to reduce travel distance, fuel consumption, and emissions
- NewCold will also support Guelph’s initiatives in creating a low carbon economy, and will seek to collaborate with a regional supplier of renewable energy
